Instructors

Steven Page: Director - a native of Paducah Kentucky, earned his B.M.E. from Murray State University in 1998 and his M.M. (trombone) from the University of Louisville in 1999.  He teaches band at Henderson County High School, a program that involves over 200 students divided into three "Distinguished" concert bands that meet each day and perform concert literature year-round.  He also oversees the Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, and Percussion Ensemble; all extra-curricular groups that meet after school.  Page taught as band director at both West Jessamine Middle School and High School in Nicholasville for seven years, where he served on the SBDM and was chairperson for the music department.  In 2009, the HCHS Wind Ensemble was selected to perform at KMEA Conference and the HCHS Clarinet Choir was selected to perform at the 2008 KMEA Conference.  For two years in a row, over one-third of the All-District Honors Band have been from HCHS.  In service to Kentucky Music Educators Association, Page has served as the State Band Chairperson, the Band Chairperson for District 7, and 5 times on the Conference Planning Committee.  Active as an adjudicator for Drum Corps International and the Central States Judging Association, Page has judged marching band and drum & bugle corps at over fifty events in twelve states.  Steven and his wife, Shana, met in high school and they have been married for ten years.  God has blessed them with three little boys and one girl.  Grainger is six and enjoys playing in mud.  Gus is four and likes to drum along with We Will Rock You.  HG is two in and he loves to be the first one to wake up.  Dagny is a few months old and she appreciates a full belly.  The Page family attends Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.

Keith Vincent: Director -  Keith Vincent is currently the Assistant Director of Bands at Henderson County High School , in Henderson, KY. His responsibilities include the teaching and administrating of nearly 300 students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade bands, jazz band, pep band, and various ensembles throughout the year.  Mr. Vincent is a native of Henderson and has returned to the Henderson County School System after 2 years with a neighboring district.  A graduate of Western Kentucky University , Mr. Vincent began teaching in 1983.  He also received his Master's Degree from WKU.  Over the years he has accumulated numerous honors and awards.  In 2001 he was named Outstanding Band Director in Kentucky , in 2000 he was awarded the Kentucky High School Teacher of the Year honor.  He has served as All State Band Chair and All District Band Chair for Districts 2 & 3.  He also received the 3rd District Citation of Excellence.  In addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Vincent serves as Director of Music at Chapel Hill Methodist Church and enjoys performing around the Tri-State area playing guitar and singing.  

Paul Metzger: Director (South Middle School)- Paul Metzger has been teaching for 28 years.  His last 18 have been at Henderson South Middle School.

Alex Grimm: Director (North Middle School)-

Kelly Sulick: Flute-  Kelly Sulick earned her Master of Music degree in flute performance from the University of Southern California and recently completed her third season as principal flute with the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra in Los Angeles, California. Prior to her graduate studies, she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan, where she graduated with highest honors and was named a James B. Angell Scholar for her academic achievements.
                   She has performed as principal flute with the USC Chamber and Symphony Orchestras, the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Band, and the Livingston Symphony Orchestra. A finalist in several national competitions, Ms. Sulick has recorded several compact discs, including William Bolcom's Songs of Innocence and of Experience under Leonard Slatkin, a Naxos release that received four Grammy awards including Best Classical Album. Her principal teachers include Jim Walker and Amy Porter.

Nancy Page: Clarinet-  Mrs. Nancy S. Page received her BME and MME from Murray State University.   A middle school band director since 1970, she has taught in the Murray Independent Schools , McCracken County Schools , and Paducah Independent Schools .  Active in  K.M.E.A., Mrs. Page has served as President of the First District Band Directors Association, All-State Band Co-Chair, State Middle School Instrumental Chairperson, and member of the Festival Contest Commission. In 1972, Mrs. Page established the First District Middle School Honor Band and in 1987 was selected Kentucky Middle School Music Teacher of the year.  In 2002, she was chosen Outstanding Bandmaster in Kentucky by Phi Beta Mu National Honorary Band Directors Fraternity.  Mrs. Page is active as clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor.  She is a member and past officer of Phi Beta Mu, and KMEA.  She has directed church music at Reidland United Methodist Church from 1974 until 1992 and at Trinity United Methodist Church from 1993 until present. She and her husband, Tony, have two sons, Steven and Alan, and four grandsons, Grainger, Gus, H.G., and Harrison. Tony and Nancy are members of Trinity United Methodist Church .

Ed Lacy: Oboe, Bassoon,  - In 2008, after a teaching career of 48 years, including 41 years at the University of Evansville, Dr. Lacy retired from full-time teaching and continues as adjunct instructor of bassoon. His primary duties included teaching bassoon, saxophone, oboe, jazz, and music theory. He founded the jazz program at UE and directed it for the first 40 years of its existence. He held the position of Oramay Cluthe Eades Distinguished Professor of Music and served as chair of the Department of Music on three occasions for a total of seven and one-half years. A native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, he holds the bachelor of music education degree from Murray State University and the master of music in bassoon and doctor of music in woodwinds from Indiana University.

Howard Luttrell, Trumpet-

Erin Schmidt, Horn- Ms. Schmidt is the consortium instructor of horn at UE and principal horn of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. She is also 3rd horn in the Lancaster Music Festival (OH). Ms. Schmidt received her Bachelor of Music in horn performance from the University of Dayton and her Master of Music in horn performance from the University of Miami. Prior to coming to Evansville, Ms. Schmidt was the principal horn of the Billings Symphony Orchestra for 4 years. During her time out West, she also served as acting principal horn of the Spokane Symphony Ochestra. She has served as an adjunct instructor of horn at the following universities: Rocky Mountain College, Whitworth College and Montana State University-Billings.

Bill Shaltis, Percussion Director- William Shaltis is principal percussion with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, section percussion with the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and consortium faculty at the University of Evansville. Prior to these appointments, Mr. Shaltis was a freelance musician in the Boston area, performing with organizations such as Boston Baroque, Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Lyric Opera, the Portland (ME) Symphony, and the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra.  Mr. Shaltis' diverse performance background includes principal timpani with the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra and Capital City Brass Band, cymbals with the New England Mehterhane (a Janissary band featuring traditional Turkish music and instruments), snare drum with the Michigan State University drumline and drum set with numerous theater shows and rock bands. He was also invited to the Aspen Music Festival and School for two summers, performing with the festival and chamber orchestras.  Mr. Shaltis received a Bachelor of Music in music education from Michigan State University and a Master of Music in performance from the Boston Conservatory. His principal teachers included Alison Shaw and David Gross (MSU), and Salvatore Rabbio, Pat Hollenbeck, John Grimes, Keith Aleo, David Herbert, and Nancy Zeltsman (Boston Conservatory).

Ryan Hadden: Percussion Staff-
Zack Stewart: Percussion Staff- Zack Stewart is a professional drummer living in Nashville, TN.  Zack’s drumline performing experiences include: the University of Kentucky drumline, Paragon Indoor, and Eklipse Indoor.  Zack attended the Percussion Institute of Technology in Hollywood, CA. He has studied privately with Rob Carson (rudimental legend), Virgil Donati (Planet X, Steve Vai), Jim Riley (Rascal Flatts), Ellis Hampton (UK, Cavaliers), and Jim Bailey (Cavaliers staff).  At 17, Zack completed the Nashville Studio Drumming Course.  Zack has toured the United States, Europe, and parts of South America.  He tours full-time with country/rock artist Rick Monroe. He has also toured with the Van-Dells.  When not on the road, Zack maintains a busy schedule in Nashville with sessions and backing artists around town.  As an instructor, Zack has worked with Burns Middle School, College View Middle School, Owensboro High School, Impact Indoor, and Henderson County High School to name a few.  Zack proudly endorses MAPEX drums, Peavey Electronics, and Kelly Shu Microphone Mounting Systems.  You can find more about Zack at www.myspace.com/zackstewart
